Optimus, Figure 03, and NEO: what you can actually buy
Tesla and Figure will not take your money today. 1X will.
25 Aug 2026

Tesla Optimus, Figure 03, and 1X NEO are the three names people argue about. One of them has a shop. Two do not.
If you want a home robot you can put money on today, the list is short. 1X will take a $200 refundable deposit, $20,000 for Early Access, or $499 a month. Tesla will take nothing. Figure will take nothing.

Tesla Optimus
You cannot buy this. Tesla has no shop page, no deposit, and no reservation. Third-party “preorder Optimus” listings are not Tesla.

Tesla has also not published height, weight, payload, or battery numbers for a 2026 machine. The last robot Tesla put a generation sticker on in public is Optimus Gen 2, in that December 2023 video. Older 2021 stage numbers do not belong here.
What Tesla has said this year: in its second-quarter 2026 update, Tesla said first-generation Optimus lines are going in at Fremont and production will start soon. The first robots are for training data and more development, not for customers. CNBC reported that on 22 July 2026.
Elon Musk’s $20,000–$30,000 figure is from Tesla’s We, Robot event in October 2024. He called it a long-term target. It is not a price on a Tesla page.
At that same event, reporters wrote that some of the party robots were being driven by people elsewhere. Walking looked onboard. Talk, serve, and play did not always.
Nobody we can name has an Optimus outside Tesla.
Figure 03
You cannot buy this either. figure.ai is a pitch and a contact form. No cart. No deposit. No waitlist. No consumer price.
Figure says the robot is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 61 kilograms, can carry 20 kilograms, walks at 1.2 meters a second, and runs about five hours. TIME’s Billy Perrigo, visiting before launch, wrote “the 5-foot-6 robot.” We use Figure’s own 5′8″ and note the shorter number a reporter used.
The pitch is Helix — Figure’s word for the robot doing housework on its own. TIME watched on 9 October 2025. Towels missed. Laundry hit the floor. A T-shirt gave it trouble. Brett Adcock, Figure’s CEO, told TIME that home-ready, all-day autonomy in 2026 was “a big push.”
On 29 April 2026 Figure said it had built 350+ third-generation robots. That is a factory count, not 350 homes.
The named place a Figure 03 actually works is a car plant. BMW said on 25 June 2026 that Figure 03 is on logistics sequencing at Spartanburg, after a 2025 Figure 02 body-shop pilot. BMW did not say how many. Adcock has also been testing one at his own house. No named paying home buyer.
Adcock said in May 2026 you could lease a Figure 03 for “something like $600 a month.” That is him talking. It is not a checkout.
We do not have a Figure model page.
1X NEO
This is the one with a cart. On 1x.tech/order, checked 25 August 2026, 1X lists $200 fully refundable deposit, $20,000 Early Access (1X says a three-year warranty and priority delivery), $499 a month subscription.

US deliveries start in 2026, 1X says. A real purchase happens later, if they invite you.
1X says NEO is 5 feet 6 inches and 66 pounds. It says the robot can lift 154 pounds and carry 55 pounds, and that it runs about four hours. On that same order page, 1X lists the battery as both 842 Wh and 0.75 kWh. Those two numbers do not match. We are not picking one.
NEO is mixed on purpose. 1X says the robot works on its own by default. For chores it does not know, you can schedule a 1X Expert — a remote 1X employee in the United States — to take over. You have to accept the session. The ear rings change color. You can also drive it yourself from the app. At launch, the Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern used one. A remote person did the hard chores: dishwasher, laundry, fetch.
On 30 April 2026, 1X said some people will get a NEO this year and some will get one later. Robots from the Hayward factory go to staff first.
We have not found the US approval a home robot would need to ship to an American house.
Size, where they published it
Tesla’s 2026 height and weight are blank. Figure and 1X put numbers on a product page. We drew those and left Tesla empty.

Money that is real, and money that is talk
The gold bars are a live checkout. The hatched bars are someone talking. Do not read a spoken target as a shop price.

Musk’s $20,000–$30,000 is a 2024 long-term target. Adcock’s “something like $600 a month” is a May 2026 spoken target. Neither one is a button you can press.
Who has one you can name?

Figure’s 350+ is factory output. BMW named a plant, not a headcount. 1X named a staff-first line, not a household. Tesla named training data, not a customer.
Side by side, in plain English
People ask the same four things. Is it for sale. What does it cost. How big is it. Who has one.
For sale. Only NEO. Tesla: not for sale. Figure: a pitch and a contact form.
Cost. NEO is $200, $20,000, or $499 a month, on a page you can open. Tesla has published none. Figure has published none. The $20–30k and ~$600/month numbers are talk.
Size. 1X says 5′6″ and 66 lb. Figure says 5′8″ and 61 kg, about 135 lb. Tesla has not published 2026 height or weight.
Work. Figure says 20 kg payload, five hours, 1.2 m/s. 1X says 154 lb lift, 55 lb carry, four hours. Tesla has not published 2026 payload, runtime, or speed, so those columns stay blank.
Who has one. Tesla: nobody named outside the company. Figure 03: BMW’s Spartanburg plant, count unpublished. NEO: no named home; staff first.
What people speculate
This part is rumor and talk. It is not a shop.
People still repeat Musk’s $20,000–$30,000 as if it were an Optimus sticker. It was “long term,” at We, Robot, in October 2024.
People repeat Adcock’s “something like $600 a month” as if Figure had a lease page. It does not.
A $20,000 Figure price goes around on aggregator sites. We did not find it on figure.ai or in TIME’s launch story. It is not a price.
Electrek reported on 20 August 2026 that Tesla told JPMorgan outside Optimus sales could come “as early as” the second half of 2027. That is a bank conversation in a report, not a Tesla shop date.
1X’s own “some this year, some later” is not gossip. It is still a promise, not a tracking number.
If you want one you can put money on
It is NEO. You can open 1x.tech/order and put $200 down. A remote person can still do the hard chores. 1X says some of you get one this year and some of you wait.
Tesla Optimus is not for sale. Figure 03 is not for sale to you.
